SKILLS ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE (SODI)
Vision: To see socially and economically developed rural communities , surviving in a well maintained environment
ORGANIZATIONAL PROFILE
SODI is a non-governmental organization registered since May 2005. Its mandated to work with small holder farmers , disadvantaged youths, women and men in Uganda empowering them with knowledge and skills that leads to creating own employment, thus contributing to improved standards of living in the respective communities.
In total SODI Agricultural program works with 44 farmer and youth groups, 1,034 families
OUR MISSION
To empower the target groups with organic farming knowledge and life skills that enable them create own employment and sustainable development
OUR OBJECTIVES
- To enhance knowledge and skills that will lead to improved food security at house hold level
- To create and raise awareness that will help the beneficiaries to respect and protect their environment for sustainable production and development
- To empower the target group with basic knowledge and skills, that will lead to creation of incomes at house hold level
- To support communities get access to potable water.
- To support communities get free tree seedlings to plant and recover environment
- To empower youths with skills that will help them create own employment in their localities

Areas of operation
SODI is currently working in 5 subcounties.
These are: Kituntu , Kilingente, Muduuma, Kasanje , Nsangi subcounties of Wakiso and Mpigi districts.
But As time goes by, activities will expand to other parts of the country.
OUR STAFF
At present ( on the agricultural programme ) , SODI employs 3 field officers, one accountant, one coordinator , and 4 farm staff , total 10 .
As for the Youth programme , it employs , one coordinator, 3 tutors , and one night watchman .( 5)
All together 15 people are employed by SODI
FUNDING
To date, major funding for all projects is done by GLS future foundation Germany GLS treuhand. , BMZ Germany , Ecosia tree planting project, but the last two fund SODI through GLS future foundation
