BACK GROUND OF THE SCHOOL
- St Peter’s Nursery and primary school is located at Bunamwaya Lubowa Village, Bunamwaya division, Sabagabo Makindye Municipality, Kyadondo County in Wakiso district. It is about 6 miles from Kampala on Entebbe road, 750m off Entebbe road from Sseguku trading centre. It’s a private school which was started on 28th April 1994 by Mr. Ddamulira Mubiru Saul.
- The school was started with only 5 teachers teaching from nursery up to P.4 with 170 children. It was then operating in a rented building that was once occupied by a poultry farm. After a year, it shifted to a nearby land formerly owned by Mzee Katarina, where the school operated for only 4 months and soon shifted to its present location (from 1996 up to date). At that time the school was on a rented ground where classes had been built with temporary materials of papyrus mats and poles and were later restructured with wood.
- Early in 1999, the school managed to acquire a land of its own and soon embarked on electing permanent structures. By the end of 1999, a two classroom structure had reached on the slab plate and was temporarily roofed with old iron sheets. Two more classes were later added on, up to the slab too. At the same time, the wooden structures were still in use for the lower section. By then the school was growing up to P.7. In April 1999, the school was permitted to establish and operate on license by the Ministry of Education (Lic. No. ME/P/742).
- In the same year (1999), some of our teachers started to attend a modular course in Waldorf Steiner Education in Nairobi: an international teachers’ training based in South Africa in the Centre for creative Education.
- In 2005, the school was registered and classified as a private educational institution under registration number PPS/S/208.
- In 2006, the school also acquired a Uganda National examination board Centre number 530315.
