About us

ABOUT GREEN LIGHT FUTURE UNION

Green light future union is a registered non-government umbrella organization found in 2015. The umbrella is comprised of 13 members; 5 agricultural organizations and 7 primary schools that realized the need to spear head activities for promoting community demand driven innovations. The alliance also has a common ground to effectively share and exchange experience across schools and organizations that make a fundamental contribution to the environment, organic-agriculture and educational curriculum in Uganda. The organization operates within the districts of Buikwe, Butambala, Hoima, Wakiso, Luwero and Mpigi who are all partner of GLS Future foundation Germany.

To support member organizations, promote social and economic transformation with an improved and dependable education system in schools and have a conducive and better living environment, enable the community to be economically stable and liable in the competitive world.

To support members in promoting social and economic transformations with dependable education curriculum and sustainable agricultural practices that lead to improved livelihood and stable environment

OUR TEAM

The organization consists of three main organs

  • The Board of  Directors/Trusties
  • The Management Committee
  • The General Assemble

The Board of Directors/ Trustees is responsible for overseeing the operation of the organization and assuring the organization’s conformance with the law. The board ensures that its organization upholds the interests of the public. this is the main foundation on which our organization was built.

 

Committee members set executive compensation levels and work with the executive director to establish goals. The committee reports to the board on their activities in connection with executive appointments. Serves in an advisory capacity to the board and the executive director.

 

The General Assembly is the Association’s supreme body comprised of all Full Members. The Assembly supervises the activities and affairs of the Association, including matters of program and objective definition. The General Assembly is in charge of managing the budget for the entire organization

OUR STRATEGIC PLAN SUMMARY

  • Strengthening the governance and management of the Organization
  • Increase awareness and sensitization of communities about causes and effects of environment degradation
  • To promote tree planting in order to conserve the environment
  • To promote sustainable organic Agriculture.
  • To promote water harvesting.
  • To involve the youth on the campaign of environment protection and preservation.
  • To promote the use of energy saving stoves and other alternative sources of energy.
  • To promote income generating activities.
